Libraries—Houses of Wisdom
Along with science, education, and vocational training, books are held in high regard by our people. In this era of national rebirth, our country's library system is being improved. This is of great importance for raising the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism and humanism, and for nurturing them into well-rounded individuals. Our Hero Arkadag emphasizes that books contain the historical wisdom and experience of our ancestors who lived in the past, the achievements of the present, and the paths that lead to them, and they give readers lessons that guide them in the right direction.
In our new historical period, adapting the library system to the needs of the time, introducing digital technologies into it, and providing readers with high-quality library services play an important role in raising the intellectual and cultural level of our people. In addition, the construction of observatories designed for the scientific study of celestial bodies within modern libraries further enhances their importance. The fact that libraries have become one of the most popular places to visit testifies to how much our people love books.
The adoption by our Hero Serdar Arkadagly of the "State Program for the Development of the Library System of Turkmenistan for 2025-2029" shows that significant work is being done to develop our country's national library system. The active implementation of this Program, prepared in accordance with the Laws of Turkmenistan "On Culture," "On Libraries and Librarianship," and other regulatory legal acts, is an important step towards the further development of librarianship, guided by international standards and our national principles. In this regard, the work carried out at the Arkadag City Library named after Dovletmamat Azadi, located in a beautiful city that has no equal in the region, deserves special mention. This place has a rich book collection and provides all the opportunities for children and young people to study and learn.
Our esteemed President's valuable work, Youth – the Foundation of the Motherland, discusses the benefits of reading books: "Our people are book lovers. When a book is read and its contents become public knowledge, it becomes a spiritual treasure. The valuable knowledge read and absorbed from books is also passed on to future generations through education." Indeed, education and upbringing are one and the same; they become an invaluable asset and spiritual treasure. Therefore, in order to educate our younger generation in accordance with our national values, it is necessary to encourage them to read books. That is why our Arkadag City Library named after Dovletmammad Azadi has a children's reading room. It offers excellent conditions for comfortable reading and has a variety of books for different age groups. Beautiful, bright illustrations of interesting fairy tales and stories written for children attract the attention of young children and encourage them to read books. We, the library staff, select books that will be interesting to children who want to read and discuss what they have read. We are especially proud that, along with elementary school students, kindergarteners also come to read in our modern library.
We, as the staff of our city library named after Dovletmammad Azadi, hold various events and competitions for children and young people. Holding such events contributes to the development of interest in reading among the younger generation. Wherever you guide a child from an early age, they will follow that path when they grow up. Therefore, by encouraging children to read books from an early age, we are making a significant contribution to their development as adults in the future. Our library's children's reading room also introduces children to books that provide basic knowledge and guide them on the right path. Works of fiction and exciting stories help broaden their horizons and teach them to distinguish between good and evil. After all, as the wise proverb says, there is no better friend in the world than a book.
It should be noted that the exemplary books of our Hero Arkadag and our Respected President are also valuable sources for us. They deserve a prominent place in the education of the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, peace, and humanism. Therefore, these books have become companion books for young people. After all, the valuable books of the National Leader and Head of State preserve our glorious history and Turkmen principles. The interesting information presented in them transports each reader into a unique world and broadens their horizons.
During the Renaissance of a new era of a sovereign state, the introduction of a digital system in librarianship, as well as in all sectors of our country, is in full swing. This allows readers to access any book and quickly find the works they need. Our Arkadag City Library named after Dovletmamat Azadi, which proudly bears the name of our outstanding poet, has created an electronic library system where you can read various books and daily newspapers in electronic form. Therefore, most young readers who visit our library actively use electronic publications. This is especially important for young people to master innovative technologies.
Overall, this remarkable library, located in the modern city of Arkadag, built and commissioned in accordance with the "smart city" concept, welcomes everyone with open arms. All the conditions and opportunities created here are a vivid example of the state's concern for educating the younger generation to become literate, qualified specialists. After all, as the head of state emphasizes, young people are the powerful force of our state, the bright future of our people striving for high goals.
We, the library staff, express our deep gratitude to our Hero Arkadag and our Hero Serdar Arkadagly, who create ample opportunities for honest work. May the life of our National Leader and Respected President, who are doing noble work to educate literate youth, be healthy, and may their heads be held high!
